Antique White Metal Dog Or Cat Collar With Two Silver Metal Hearts 'Cartouche'
Late Victorian/Early Edwardian Dog Or Cat Collar designed as a fancy metal chain, with almond shaped links, set with 2 metal hearts - (probably used to be metal bells), and with a closure which has four holes for adjusting the size by about 1", the mechanism opening and closing with a screw mechanism which locks by twisting a rod through one of the holes.
There is a silver disc 7/8" diameter linked to the collar which has been engraved - 'Cartouche' . The back of the disc is engraved 'L Dupont Fils aine, 49 rue de la fontaine'
It looks to me that the collar was brass plated but nearly all traces of brass have worn away over time
measures- approx 11" internal diameter
condition - good, some rust to the screw mechanism. I think the hearts would originally have been bells
