Very rare and pretty large round ribbed enamel box, the white-ground is decorated with roses and forget-me-nots and the center bears a flaming heart.

The copper-gilt mounts hinge open to reveal a painting on the inner lid of a pug seated on a blue cushion with a pink bow tied around its neck. He is beautifully hand-painted. The pink ribbon on a pug can often refer to a secret society of the time.

Date -Germany 1765.

Condition - some crazing lines but no cracks.
