A very unusual Victorian inkwell from the estate of Gloria Reese. Featuring a seated greyhound sitting atop a lovely square barley twist inkwell. It's a very large piece, quite magnificent. Great as a statement piece on the coffee table.

A dog lover since childhood, Mrs Reese started showing dogs after her marriage to steel magnate Nathan Reese in 1946. Together, the Reeses reared three of their beloved dogs into number-one all breeds: a Dobermann, Ch. Galaxy’s Corry Missile Bell in 1973, a Greyhound Ch. Aroi Talk Of The Blues (‘Punky’, top winning greyhound of all time) in 1976, and the Bouvier des Flandres Ch Galbraith’s Ironeyes in ‘90. All three also won the group at Westminster – Punky twice.

The Reese motorhome was larger than most people’s houses and equipped with every possible convenience. It was generally agreed that if there is a second life, coming back as one of Gloria and Nat Reese’s dogs would not be a bad thing at all!
