A lovely Victorian Cigar/Cheroot case with papier mache that has been hand-painted and lacquered, circa 1880, with hound and birds.

One side has the portrait of a hound dog with gilded lacquer work in the form of swags and tassels, the reverse with a bird in the undergrowth - looks like a robin but the breast is not red.

The hinged top flips open after pressing a button to reveal a metal-lined inner.

measures - 5.25" x 3.5" x .75"

condition - some slight loss to gilding, and some crazing, but still a beautiful piece.
